Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) calls for submissions on the discussion document to review the Universal Service and Access Obligations (USAO)

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa is calling on all interested parties and stakeholders to submit their written submissions on the discussion document to review the Universal Service and Access Obligations.

The discussion document, which was published on 17 August 2010 in Government Gazette Number 33467, seeks to review the current USAO regulatory framework including the need for the development and publication of regulations in terms of the provisions of the Electronic Communications Act.

This inquiry further seeks to ensure that the public participates in the process and is able to contribute to the Authority’s efforts to determine an appropriate USAO framework for the republic.

Interested persons are requested to make their written on the discussion document by no later than 16h00 on 12 November 2010. The document is available on the authority's website: http://www.icasa.org.za/.
