The Department of Home Affairs' Counter Corruption Unit, jointly with the South African Police Service (SAPS), has today arrested one official based at the Krugersdorp office on charges of fraud and corruption.
In the course of the investigation, which began in 2006, undercover police officials managed to purchase fraudulent identity documents (ID) from external syndicates aided by corrupt Home Affairs officials.
More arrests are expected.
