HIV and AIDS Director, Ms Coceka Nogoduka appointed as President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Coordinator for the province

The Eastern Cape Department of Health has been selected, with five other provinces by the United States government President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief to receive a PEPFAR Coordinator responsible for the coordination of all non-governmental organisations (NGOs) funded by the United States government in the Eastern Cape province.

PEPFAR is the biggest funder for HIV and AIDS in 15 developing countries in the world. PEPFAR, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Health has appointed Ms Coceka Nogoduka as the provincial PEPFAR coordinator.

She will be based in the Department of Health working with Pact South Africa and other United States government development agencies in the coordination of NGOs, funded by PEPFAR providing HIV and AIDS and tuberculosis (TB) programmes in the province.

The acting COO Dr Rolene Wagner wished Ms Nogoduka all the best in her new appointment as she started on 1 July 2010
