The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities and Freedom Park Council will be joining the rest of the South African Communities and in celebrating the Heritage Month under the theme: Celebrating the heroes and heroines of the liberation struggle in South Africa. The event will be held at the Freedom Park premises in Tshwane.
The CRL Commission in partnership with Freedom Park Council will be celebrating the Heritage Month on 23 September 2011 at Freedom Park premises. Both the CRL Rights Commission and Freedom Park Council recognise different aspects of South African cultural, religious, and linguistic heritage, creative expressions, traditional, inter-generational dialogues, visit to heritage sites, historical inheritance, indigenous art, food, traditional medicine, African calendar, rites of passage, animal slaughtering ceremonies, respect for sacred sites, and popular memory.
The CRL Rights Commission in collaboration with the Freedom Park Council would celebrate the eve of the Heritage Day, 24 September 2011 with an early morning to remember the heroes and heroines of our liberation struggle. Various cultural communities, members of parliament, traditional leaders, interfaith communities, youth leaders, cultural, religious and language experts will be providing the messages of support after the overview of the theme has been provided by the senior leadership of the commission.
The commission would like to encourage the participation of as many communities and media people.
Young cultural performing groups from different backgrounds will grace the celebration.
