Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will start a new shift at George Mukhari hospital (Pretoria) later this morning as part of his department's efforts to minimise service delivery disruptions amid the ongoing public service strike action.
The minister, joined by senior officials who are trained in healthcare and pharmacy in the national Department of Health completed his shift at Chris Hani Baragwanath at 06h00 this morning working on patients at the hospital's Casualty unit.
Addressing the media at Chris Hani Baragwanath, the Health Minister made it clear that no amount of violence and intimidation will bring the country's public health facilities to a complete shutdown describing such behavior as being tantamount to murder.
The Department of Health has put in place measures to minimise service delivery disruptions in public hospitals which include the deployment of the Defence Force's Medical unit and referring critical patients to private hospitals.
