Government Communications and Information System (GCIS) donates to an orange farm school

The Government Communications and Information System’s (GCIS) Management Committee have come together to donate soccer balls and  funds to Solwazi Primary School in Orange Farm outside Johannesburg, as part of the Freedom Friday campaign leading up to the 20 Years' of Freedom celebrations in 2014.

GCIS donated more than 50 soccer balls and R5 000.00 to contribute towards the development of a soccer field for the school. Solwazi Primary School was opened last year and with only ten classrooms, it is currently accommodating 600 pupils from Grade 0 to Grade 7.

GCIS Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Harold Maloka said, "GCIS management is committed to playing an active role in bettering the lives of our children. Our aim was to provide an enabling environment that ensures that children are stimulated and developed beyond the classroom. It is in this spirit that we encourage South Africans to celebrate the milestones of our country's freedom and identify opportunities to change the lives of others, for the better".

Working together we continue to change lives.
