Eastern Cape Education confers certificates to teachers, 28 Nov

Eastern Cape Education introduces reforms to underperforming schools

About 390 educators from Eastern Cape Department of Education’s 11 underperforming districts will be conferred with their certificates at the former Algoa College of Education Campus in Straunway, tomorrow the 28th of November 2014 at 09:00 am.

The training obtained by these educators from underperforming schools will now help ensure that even the most improved schools do not slide back; rather excel from their improved performance. In line with support of school-based teachers’ knowledge and practice, the Education’s Professional Services unit has facilitated this training in the identified subject areas with the University of Fort Hare, and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU).

Details of the trained educators:

  • 240 teachers for Further Education and Training (FET) Mathematics;
  • 50 teachers for Physical Sciences; and
  • 100 teachers for Senior Phase Mathematics;

Tomorrow the department will recognise the strides and the commitment displayed by this group of teachers in making the Department realise its mandate of providing quality public education.
