Gauteng Legislature on road closures and media accreditation submissions cut-off for SOPA

Notice: Road closures and media accreditation submissions cut-off for the 2018 SoPA

On Monday, 26th February 2018 the Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL), Honourable Ntombi Mekgwe will preside over the Official Opening Legislature, where in terms of Rule 14 of the Standing Orders, the Honourable Premier David Makhura will deliver the State of the Province Address at the GPL.

To ensure ease of access for Honourable Members and all guests to Gauteng Legislature precinct where the Opening will take place, some street closures will be implemented. The following roads and intersections will be closed and monitored from 6h00am on the 26th February 2018:

  • Albertina Sisulu street from Harrison to Rissik streets
  • Helen Joseph street from Harrison to Rissik streets
  • City Hall street from Pritchard to Helen Joseph streets
  • The immediate left-hand lane in Harrison street from Helen Joseph street to Albertina Sisulu street
  • The two immediate left-hand lanes in Rissik street from Albertina Sisulu street to Helen Joseph street and full closure at 9h00 to 10h00

Please note that all these intersections and streets will be closed to traffic at 6h30 and will be open to traffic by 14h00.

Inconveniences caused to local motorists as a result of these road closures are regretted, and motorists will be redirected to alternative routes.

N.B Please note that submissions for media accreditation has officially closed. Any submissions henceforth will not be considered. Accreditation collection for those who have submitted their details, will be collected at the Gauteng Legislature (Committee Room C) between Friday 23rd and Sunday 25th February, 10h00 till 16h00 daily.

There will be no accreditation at the venue on the day.
