Gauteng Legislature on road closures ahead of Gauteng State of the Province Address 2021

Public notice: Road closures in Johannesburg CBD for Gauteng SOPA 2021

On Tuesday, 23rd February 2021, Honourable Speaker Ntombi Mekgwe; will preside over this year’s official Opening of the Legislature where Premier David Makhura will deliver Gauteng’s State of the Province Address (SOPA) – highlighting the Provincial Government’s service delivery action plan for the year ahead. The SOPA hybrid Sitting will commence at 10h00 am, and the public will be able to view the proceedings through both GPL and GPG social media platforms; as well as on the SABC.

To ensure ease of access to the Gauteng Legislature precinct where the SOPA will take place, some street closures will be implemented. Helen Joseph Street from Harrison Street and Loveday will be closed to traffic and monitored from 9h00am on the 23rd February 2021.

Inconveniences caused to local motorists as a result of this road closure are regretted, and motorists will be redirected to alternative routes.
