Four victims killed in yet another crash in KZN on the R74 Glendale

KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mr Willies Mchunu has expressed his shock following yet  another crash in KZN on the R74 Glendale near Stanger yesterday (15/09/2013) afternoon.

Preliminary reports reveal that, a mini-bus travelling from Stanger to Mthandeni when its tyre burst and over turned. There were four occupants who died on the scene (3x adults and 1x child), one was critically injured and 10 sustained minor injuries and were taken to Stanger and Maphumulo Hospitals.

In a separate incident, on the N2 Mahlongwana Bridge, one person died when a Chevrolet Spark overturned as it was trying to make a U-turn last night (15/09/2013).

Mchunu has expressed his immense shock at these accidents: I am deeply concerned at the spate of accidents happening in this Province. The government will not rest with its efforts to fight road carnages. I want to emphasize to all road users that road safety starts with each and everyone of you. The government can only do so much but the ball stops with each individual. Some accidents are avoidable if only people adhered to the rules of the road. I would like to send my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and a speedy recovery to the injured,” said Mchunu.
