Beware of UIF scammer posing as Labour official in Mokopane – Limpopo Province

The Department of Employment and Labour in Limpopo Province is warning members of the public in Mokopane, of a man going by the name of Mr Ledwaba who claims to be working for the “Department of Labour”, and is soliciting monies from clients with a promise to speed up their Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) applications.

The Department would like to caution members of the public to refrain from paying out monies to anyone who promises to fast-track their UIF applications. All services rendered by the Department of Employment and Labour are free of charge. All UIF applications are to be submitted at any of the Labour Centres nationwide or through the online platforms that can be verified on the department’s website www.labour.gov.za.

The Department would like to emphasise that it allows zero tolerance to fraud, corruption and theft. As such, departmental officials can never ask for money to fast-track any application or request money to render any departmental service.

“We urge all our clients and members of the public at large to be vigilant and report such attempts to their nearest Labour Centres. Acts of corruption, fraud and theft in the department can be reported to the Department of Employment and Labour Anti-Fraud & Corruption hotline on 0860 666 883/ Fraud@labour.gov.za,” said Magda Glover, Mokopane regional manager.
