Candidates contesting municipal by- elections on 6 July  2022

Four municipal ward by-elections will take place in Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and Western Cape on Wednesday, 6 July 2022.
 
The eighteen candidates from eleven political parties will contest the by-elections. 
 
Eastern Cape: 
Ward 07 in the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality – EC157  will be contested by Siphokazi Madyum from the African National Congress (ANC), Lockington Nyusile Majokweni from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Sandile Bimbi, from the Independent 
South African National Civic Organisation (ISANCO) and Siphulaphule Gqobo from the United Democratic Movement (UDM).
 
The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the death of a councillor. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 municipal elections was 51.27% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 57.06% of valid votes. 
 
Ward 43 in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality – NMA will be contested by Andile Vincent Tali from the Abantu Integrity Movement (AIM), Thandazwa Cholani from the ActionSA, Mandlakazi Mabuda from the ANC; Mzwandile Alfred Madela from the Azanian People's Organisation (APO), Anele Kopo from the EFF; Luzuko Glorias James from UDM and Andile Phillip Gqabi from the United Front of the Eastern Cape (UFEC).
 
The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the death of a councillor. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 municipal elections was 44.82% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 70.13% of valid votes.
 
Mpumalanga: 
Ward 03 in the Chief Albert Luthuli Municipality – MP301 will be contested by Nomvula Elizabeth Dlamini from the ANC, Ignatia Thobisile Simelane from the EFF and Mduduzi Henry Nkosi from the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).  
 
The ward was previously represented by the ANC and became vacant as a result of the death of a councillor. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 municipal elections was 46.77% and the ANC candidate won the ward with 82.10% of valid votes.
 
Western Cape:
Ward 07 in the Matzikama Municipality – WC011 will be contested by Hazel Elaine Daniels from the ANC; Christo Jacoby Boks from the Democratic Alliance (DA); Desmond Dennis Pula from the  EFF and Rodney Brain Lakay from the Patriotic Alliance (PA).
 
The ward was previously represented by the PA and became vacant as a result of the councillor’s resignation. The voter turnout for this ward in the 2021 municipal elections was 58.78% and the PA candidate won the ward with 26.91% of valid votes.
