Eastern Cape Department of Health brings services to the people on Women's Day

Eastern Cape Department of Health brought services closer to the people during Women's Day celebrations held at Xaxazana village in Mt Fletcher.

During the event 306 people were scanned for different diseases. Out of the 306, 174 were examined for minor ailments, 83 for blood pressure and blood sugar; seven were referred due to high blood sugar. In the 49 examined for voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) five were diagnosed HIV positive.

Elundini LSA manager Mrs Makalima said she was pleased with the positive turn up, and mentioned that it was good to see people queuing for health services.

Among dignitaries who graced the day were; Premier for Eastern Cape, Ms Noxolo Kiviet, MECs for government departments, local municipalities, and municipal mayors and women leaders.
