the dti participates in the International Astronautical Congress in China

The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) is participating in the International Astronautical Congress 2013 that is currently taking place in Beijing, China until Friday, 27 September 2013.

According to the Chief Director of Advanced Manufacturing at the dti, Ms Nomfuneko Majaja, the objective of participating in the Congress is to improve the competitive capability of the South African Space industry to compete in the global market and ensure economic growth, appropriate investment and job creation.

“the dti is providing a National Pavilion for the South African Space Arena including government entities to exhibit their capabilities and enable engagements with international space community that could forge relationships in areas of space engineering, science and other related beneficial spheres,” says Majaja.

The following companies are exhibiting in the dti National Pavilion: South African National Space Agency (SANSA), Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Africa Integrated dti Aerospace Programmes (IDAP), Aerospace Industry Support Initiative (AISI), National Aerospace Centre (NAC), Space Commercial Services (SCS), Denel Dynamics, French South African institute of Technology (F`SATI) and the  South African Council for Space Affairs (SACSA).
