Deputy Minister Thabethe arrives in Qatar

The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms Elizabeth Thabethe, arrived in Qatar where she is leading a delegation of women entrepreneurs to participate in the fourth annual session of Qatar International Business women Forum 2013 (QIBWF).

The South African delegation consists of business women in construction, mining, agro-processing, civil engineering and consulting, ICT, hospitality and tourism. QIBWF 2013 is organised by the Qatari Business women Association in cooperation with Interactive Business Network, will be held under the theme “Arab Business women as Change-Makers”.

Deputy Minister Thabethe says that Qatar International Business women Forum will empower South African delegation as the women of the two countries are facing the same challenges of women empowerment.

“These forum will discuss such issues as developing and harnessing the leadership potential of business women, values of identity and leadership style, removing barriers that prevent women from exercising leadership in business and social activities, growing and funding entrepreneurship and innovation among women, and profiles of women visionaries”, said Deputy Minister.

Earlier this year, Deputy Minister Thabethe led a group of South African companies that were participating in the World Cup Legacy Exhibition.

These companies were exhibiting their products and services in Qatar with the aim of being able to establish partnerships with the Qatari companies for the utilisation of their expertise, goods and services as Qatar prepares for hosting the 2022 World Cup.
