Department of Women horrified by Bronkhorstspruit rape and bestiality allegations

It is with absolute horror, shock and disgust that the Department of Women learns of a police case involving the rape of a domestic worker in Bronkhorstspruit by her employer, via a media report from www.news24.com

According to the report, the woman was forced to perform acts of bestiality with a dog by her tormentor, which adds insult to injury.

According to the report, Captain Mavela Masondo said the suspect dragged the woman into a room where he allegedly raped her until the early hours of the morning.

"It is further alleged that the suspect then forced the victim to perform sexual acts on his dog," Masondo said.

The department would also like to put it on record that it considers rape and or any other type of forced sexual activity, and worse when it involves bestiality, as a crime based on power, and a desire to denigrate the other person. It has nothing to do with sexual lust, or sexuality. It is premised on disrespect for the other person and a need to exercise power and control over another person.

Whilst the matter is still an allegation, and the accused still has to have his day in court, the department would like to publicly state its condemnation of the alleged act of extreme barbarism, and would also like to enjoin all sectors of the country to join the department in registering their outrage and fight against gender based violence.

Similarly the department would also like to appeal to the law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities to ensure they present a watertight case in court.

The 45 year old suspect is expected to appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
