Department wishes bus accident victims a speedy recovery

The department has learnt with shock about the bus accident that occurred this
morning on Tuesday, 2 June 2009. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning between 05h20 and 05h30. The accident occurred on the R538 between White River and Hazyview.

The bus was ferrying people to various working destination when the accident occurred. About 50 people sustained injuries whilst there are no fatalities reported. The injured have been taken to various hospitals that include Themba
Hospital at Kabokweni, Bongani hospital in Hazyview and Rob Ferreira hospital in
Nelspruit. Most of the commuters were from Mgcobaneni community.

The cause of the accident is unknown. The South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating the matter.

The department would like to wish all the injured a speedy recovery. The
department also urges all road users to obey the rules of the road at all times in order to curb such accidents.
