Department engages Laudium community surrounding areas

In recognition of the role played by communities in their development, the Department of Roads and Transport has seen it fit to meet and engage communities to have a voice in projects aimed at improving their lives. To afford community members an opportunity to influence decision-making, the department will host a community imbizo for Laudium and surrounding areas at the Laudium Civic Centre, City of Tshwane on Wednesday, 15 September 2010 starting at 17h00.

Imbizo is a communication platform forming part of the Public Participation Programme that is employed to enhance dialogue and interaction between government institutions and communities. They also serve to provide an opportunity for government to communicate its programme of action and the progress being made, promote participation of the public in programmes to improve their lives and highlight communities' concerns, grievances and advice about work of government.

The objectives of the Laudium community imbizo are:

  •  to build, maintain and strengthen relations with community members and stakeholders
  •  to attempt and address service delivery challenges facing the community.

MEC Nkosi, representatives from the Department and Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality will be in attendance to address and respond to community's development challenges, issues and problems.
