Following an outcry from the community of Eshowe and surroundings about buses not operating in the area for quite some time, the Department of Transport wishes to extend an act of contrition to the community of that area and further assures that we are working on the matter as a matter of priority.
Operations by KwaZulu-Natal Bus Company were expected to resume in July but due to operational challenges they could not. Challenges facing the company amongst the others were acquisition of depot, delivering of the ticketing electronic equipment and labour matters on staffing.
The company has promised the department to have solved its problems early next month (September) and commence operations on 12 September 2010.
The department is keen on living by its mission statement which clearly states “We will provide the public with a safe, integrated, regulated, affordable and accessible transportation system and ensure that in delivering on our mandate we meet the developmental needs of our province”
