Defence Force members repel deadly ambush in Sudan Region of Dafur

The brave, courageous and dedicated members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) who are deployed in Sudan as part of the UN-AU hybrid mission in Sudan commonly known as the United Nation  and African Union Mission in Sudan (UNAMIS), this morning repelled a deadly ambush from the rebels in the area.

However, it is with sadness that one member lost his life whilst another was seriously injured. Particulars of the deceased will be released once the family or next of kin have been informed. The Minister of Defence and  Military  Veterans; Chief of the South African National Defence Force; Chief of Joint Operations Division and Chief of the South African Army convey  their  heartfelt  condolences to the family, relatives, friends and  comrades of  the deceased and wish the injured member a speedy recovery.
