Day 2: Matric examinations continue without incident

The 2013 National Senior Certificate examination has continued into the second day without any compromise. This morning 148 374 full time and 21 406 part time learners sat to write the Accounting examination which went off without a glitch.

The only incident reported was a bomb scare at George Secondary School in the Western Cape. The bomb disposal unit was called to the school to sweep the premises. The premises were cleared and the examination continued without any incident.

Learners took to Twitter this morning to express their satisfaction with the way in which they wrote. "@DBE_SA  Good : Just slightly a bit challenging" wrote one learner in response to a tweet by the Department of Basic Education‏ "So, #class of 2013, how was this morning's Accounting exam? #NSC".

As the examinations move into the third day learners will sit to write Afrikaans Home Language, Afrikaans First Additional Language and Afrikaans Second Additional Language papers in the morning session as well as Agricultural and Nautical Science in the afternoon session.
