Dates for 2014 State of the Nation Address

The President of the Republic of South Africa Mr Jacob Zuma will deliver his State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, 13 February 2014.

Because 2014 is an election year, it is expected that there will be another State of the Nation Address after the national and provincial election.

The date for the election is still to be set.

The 2014 State of the Nation Address will be delivered in the evening, at around 19.00, as has been the case for the past years.

The forthcoming State of the Nation Address will be followed by debate on the address, on 18 and 19 February 2014, and the President’s reply to the debate, on 20 February 2014.

Media wishing to report or broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct when President Zuma delivers the State of the Nation Address, on the debate on the address or on the President’s reply to the debate must indicate by 12 noon on Wednesday, 15 January 2014 whether they wish to obtain accreditation for:

  • The State of the Nation Address - 13 February 2014
  • Debate on the State of the Nation Address – 18 and 19 February 2014
  • President Zuma’s reply to debate on his address – 20 February 2014

Details required are:

  • Full name
  • ID/passport number
  • Name of media organisation and media group
  • Designation (writer, photographer, for example)
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Mobile phone number

Media wishing to broadcast from the Parliamentary precinct should also provide:

  • Make of vehicle(s)
  • Registration number(s)
  • Clearance certificates from service providers for temporary structures (tents, etc) they wish to erect
  • Other equipment
  • Time of arrival
  • Time of departure
