Commission for Gender Equality celebrates Youth Day

The Commission for Gender Equality extends its heartfelt appreciation to the enormous sacrifices made by the youth of 1976. We say this cognisant of the fact that despite all their sacrifices the current generation of youth are confronted with new challenges.

The onus is upon them to write their scripts in history and this can only been done by effectively and decisively dealing with the challenges facing them.

The youth in advancement of gender equality has to deal with issues pertaining to abuses of women and children, human trafficking, scourge of HIV and AIDS, etc.

While traffickers might try to exploit the opportunity presented by the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it is, however upon the youth to give human trafficking a red card and report the misnomer related to it, to law enforcers.

In celebration of this momentous occasion, least the youth forget the journey ahead and its many challenges. The Commission for Gender Equality calls upon the youth to make good on the opportune moment tomorrow and rally around each other in dispelling plenty of stereotypes that are rearing its ugly head in society and unite behind one common goal that of ensuring a better future for all, wherein gender equality will be realised.

The Commission for Gender Equality also wishes Bafana Bafana well in their game tomorrow. Trusting that the history associated with the day will inspire them more in seeing Uruguay off.
