Call for nominations: Mpumalanga Premiers Youth Excellence Awards

The Mpumalanga Premier’s Youth Excellence Awards is a project initiated and funded by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. It is implemented in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency. The main objective of the Premier’s Youth Excellence Awards is to support the pursuit of excellent standards of achievements among young men and women of the Mpumalanga province.

There are four categories in the Premier’s Youth Excellence Awards namely:

1. The Premier’s Entrepreneurship and Job Creation Award - 2010

Members of the public are requested to nominate young men and women who have made a special and outstanding contribution in terms of establishing and managing an entrepreneurial project, and thereby create jobs for young men and women. The benefits of such a contribution must have had a tangible impact on the welfare of people in the affected communities. Such projects must have been running for at least the past 24 months.

2. The Premier’s Education Award – 2010

Members of the public are requested to nominate young men and women who have achieved outstandingly within matric and in tertiary institutions or those who have achieved through development and implementation of innovative and creative community based educational projects / programmes. Nominated projects must have been running for at least the last 24 months.

3. Premier’s Volunteerism Award – 2010

Nominations are requested from the public for young men and women or youth projects that have made an outstanding contribution in the lives of the people in communities through the rendering of voluntary services.

4. Premier’s Culture, Sport and Arts Award – 2010

Members of the public are requested to nominate young men and women who have achieved significantly in the areas of culture, sport and arts. This should take into account achievements in the development, performance, production or administration on culture, sport or the arts. Priority should be given to those codes and genres, which have proved to be popular among the majority of the target group.

Terms and conditions

• Nominees should be young persons who reside in Mpumalanga province, between ages 14 to 35.
• Nominations have to reach the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) by 15 October 2010.
• Completed forms can also be returned to the Local Municipalities Youth Desks for collection by the NYDA. Late submissions will not be considered. The judges’ decision will be final.
