The Mpumalanga Department of Education has relieved of her duties the Grade R practitioner at Bankfontein Combined School at Nkangala District who allegedly fed a learner human waste.
The said practitioner appeared before the disciplinary hearing on 20 August 2013 and was subsequently found guilty in terms of chapter seven of the Disciplinary Code and Procedure Code section 7.4 (a) (vii).
This practitioner may appeal to the MEC within five days of receipt of the sanction. The view of the department is that this outcome will send a clear message that government seriously cares for children and will in terms of the law deal with anyone who abuses children and contravenes the legal framework.
