27 motorists arrested by the Gauteng traffic police

Earlier this morning arrested two motorists, one an actor from Generations, for reckless and negligent driving along the Olifantsfontein road in Midrand. The drivers drove along the barrier and shoulder lanes when the arrest happened. This has caused obstruction to traffic as well as overtaking on the wrong side of the road, posing a threat to the safety of other motorists.

In a separate incident over the weekend eleven other motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol along the Allandale offramp in Midrand. All suspects were detained and later released on bail and are due to appear at the Midrand Magistrate Court soon.

Fourteen other motorists were arrested over the weekend for reckless and negligent driving involving participation in a drag racing also in Midrand. All 14 were detained but later granted bail of R500 each and are due to appear at the Midrand Magistrate court.

Motorists are urged to comply with the rules of the road as acts of lawlessness will not be tolerated.
