World Tourism Day celebrations in Limpopo

World Tourism Day is commemorated on 27 September each year. This year's theme is "Tourism and Biodiversity".

This date was chosen to coincide with an important milestone in world tourism: the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) statutes on 27 September 1970.

The main purpose of World Tourism Day is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values.

Limpopo province will be hosting this year's celebration of the World Tourism Day. A gala dinner will be held on the 26 September 2010 at The Ranch Protea Hotel, starting at 18:30.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Thokozile Xasa and the Premier of Limpopo, Cassel Mathale will be attending.
