Mpumalanga Provincial Government will officially close the provincial Women's Month as per government programme on 31 August 2009, at Delmas Sports Centre under the theme "together empowering women for development and gender equity."
The main objectives are, among others to evaluate progress made on the empowerment and development of women in the province since the launch of the programme on 3 August 2009. The ceremony will also open a platform for discussion and engagement on issues of concern to women.
As part of Women's Month programme, the province also hosted the 10th Provincial Female Farmer of the Year Awards on 6 August 2009. The main objective of the awards was to empower women in agriculture by recognising their contribution in the fight against poverty.
