Women champion 50 percent representation and empowerment fund

Marking the start of August as Women’s Month, representatives of women’s groups from across the country will meet in Pretoria tomorrow Thursday, 30 July to discuss strategic priorities for the Department of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities.

In her opening address to the consultative meeting, the Minister of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, is expected to call for support for enforcement of legal quotas requiring 50 percent representation of women in the public and private sector.

Minister Mayende-Sibiya is also expected to announce the efforts to establish an empowerment fund for women.

The media is invited to attend the opening session of this meeting.
