Minister Gwede Mantashe participates in COP28 in Dubai, 5 to 6 Dec

The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe (MP) will, on 05 – 06 December 2023, participate at the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

At an invitation of COP28 Presidency, the Minister will participate as a speaker in a panel discussion on “Building the Foundations of the Future Energy System”. The panel discussion underscores the pivotal role that efficient grid expansion will play in accelerating the global just energy transition and highlighting the urgency of our commitment to a sustainable future.

Furthermore, the panel discussion brings together energy sector leaders to strategise and collaborate on critical initiatives that seek to enhance grid infrastructure to support the seamless integration of energy sources into the energy mix. Discussions will revolve around grid modernization, investment opportunities, sustainable supply chains, and the formulation of regulatory frameworks to promote sustainable and resilient grids.

The Minister will further hold bilateral meetings with respective energy ministers in the African continent, and the World at large.
