Treasury empowers young people

Celebrating a vibrant youth voice

As part of youth month commemoration about 16 Grade 11 learners from Lekhulong Secondary School will take part in the Free State Provincial Treasury ‘take a child to workplace’ initiative on 25 June 2009.

This will be preceded by ‘drug talk workshop’ on 24 June 2009 with 50 learners at the same school. Here learners will interact and share information with rehabilitated drug convicts at the Grootvlei Prison. The workshop which aims at educating learners about the danger of drug abuse will commence at 10h00 until 12h00.

The take child initiative seeks to inspire learners to be future leaders in both public and private sector. It also attempts to map a future career path for these learners.

During take a child programme learners will be deployed as follows:
* Two learners in MEC’s office
* Two learners in CEO’s office
* Twelve other learners will be placed in different chief directorates.
