Transport Deputy Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga to address Eastern Cape provincial Transport South African Network for Women in Transportation (SANWIT) conference

Transport Deputy Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga will address the Eastern Cape Department of Transport South African Network for Women in Transportation (SANWIT) Provincial conference and Gala dinner at the OR Tambo Hall in Mthatha on 30 to 31 August 2012.

Deputy Minister Chikunga will form part of the two day conference which is a culmination of District SANWIT Summits that took place earlier this year to revive the structure at both district and provincial levels, following a pronouncement made by MEC Thandiswa Marawu through her Policy Speech in March 2012.

SANWIT is a structure that supports the idea of strengthening the role of women in transport and is aimed at recruiting women or women groups as members and coordinate them into an umbrella body.

The conference will also feature presentations on opportunities for women from various transport entities, including the South African Maritime Safety Authority, Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, South African National Roads Agency Limited, Transnet Ports Authority, SANLAM and the newly established Provincial Government Fleet Management Services Trading Entity.
