Swearing-in of new Members of Cabinet and Deputy Ministers

Six new Members of Cabinet as well as 12 new Deputy Ministers will be sworn in today, 1 November 2010, at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria, by the Honourable Chief Justice, Judge Sandile Ngcobo.

One Minister- designate, Mr Paul Mashatile will be sworn in at a later stage, as he has to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament first.

President Jacob Zuma appointed the new Members of the National Executive yesterday.

The Presidency wishes to clarify that the Department of International Relations and Cooperation still has two Deputy Ministers as before. The Deputy Minister-designate, Mr Marius Fransman, replaces Ms Sue van der Merwe and is not a third Deputy Minister in that department.

Ministers and Deputy Ministers who are changing from one department to another will not be sworn in as they had already done so in their previous portfolios.
