South African Early Childhood Development Awards (SAECDA)

Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe will reward best teaching practices and giverecognition to deserving Early Childhood Development practitioners on Friday, 1 October 2020 bypresenting the South African Early Childhood Development Awards.

The core aims of the awards are to create awareness of the vital role that Early Childhood Development and education play in nation building and promoting excellence in the ECD sector.

The SAECD promote and recognise excellence, hard work, dedication and investment in the future of children by individual practitioners, community centres, and organizations involved in the Early Childhood Development sector.

The awards highlight the need for a proper integrated system of ECD considering children's health, nutrition, education and psychosocial and additional environmental factors within the context of their family and community.

The awards were initiated in 2003 by the Amalgamated Banks of South Africa (ASA) and SACECD and are geared towards encouraging ECD centres to be registered and to apply best practice in the physical, cognitive, emotional and spiritual development of children.
