South Africa sends high-level women delegation to United Nations (UN)

Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya will tomorrow Thursday, 25 February brief the media on South Africa’s participation in the 54th Session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on the status of women to be held in New York from 1 to 12 March.

South Africa is sending a top-level delegation of women ministers, deputy ministers and senior officials to represent the country at the meeting. The meeting is to review progress in improving the status of women 15 years after the adoption of the Beijing Declaration in 1995. The meeting will also focus on economic empowerment and challenges of violence faced by women worldwide.

The media is invited to this briefing which will also provide progress report on the work of the Department for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities.
