Premier Sihle Zikalala leads campaign on Gender Based Violence and Femicide, 25 Nov

KZN provincial executive council to launch massive campaign to fight the scourge of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala and members of the Provincial Executive Council will tomorrow (25 November 2020) lead a massive integrated government campaign to re-enforce efforts to fighting the scourge of Gender Based Violence and Femicide across the province.

The recently released crime statistics indicates that KwaZulu-Natal remains a leading province when it comes to cases of violence against women, including rape cases.

The roll-out of this targeted and outcome-based campaign will be part of the government’s plans to intensify the war on gender-based violence for and turn the tide against what has been described as the second pandemic afflicting society.

Premier Zikalala and all MECs will embark on various activities in various districts as part of highlighting the plight of women and conduct oversight visits in institution providing victim support. They will also undertake education and awareness campaigns. The visits will include follow-up on cases and Thuthuzela Centers.

The main provincial launch will take place at Mtubatuba where Premier Sihle Zikalala will launch the KZN Chapter and the 365 days campaign against gender-based violence and femicide.
