Higher Education and Training Minister Dr Blade Nzimande will deliver the keynote address at a summit hosted by the Western Cape Further Education and Training (FET) college sector to discuss collaboration between colleges and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) for skills development.
The national Department of Higher Education and Training has provided the sector with a decisive mandate to explore successful models of cooperation for expand skills development programmes.
The Western Cape FET College sector in partnership with the Western Cape SETA cluster arranged the summit to discuss local collaboration initiatives to provide trained students with workplace learning and job placement opportunities.
The event is an important forerunner to the Department of Higher Education and Training's FET College Summit and the Skills Summit, which both take place next month. In his address, Minister Nzimande will outline preparations for the summits and progress in developing the FET college sector into a key delivery site for skills development.
