North West women traffic officers respond to plight of learners in impoverished farming community

North West provincial women traffic officers are to descend to the impoverished Maquassi rural community on Tuesday to handover school uniforms to all 165 learners at Phakedi Primary School at Greylingsrus farm outside Maquassi.

“The department prides itself with the calibre of public servants and in particular women who go beyond their call of duty to make a difference within our various communities. We are proud of the fundraising initiative of our women traffic officers in response to the plight of the learners in the impoverished farming community,” say North West MEC for Public Safety Howard Yawa.

The handover to commence at 10h00 was initially meant to be the closing function for the August month women in law enforcement operations that were carried throughout the province. The event was postponed from an earlier date as some of the women traffic officers had to attend the International Road Traffic Management (IRTM) Conference that was held in Cape Town from 24 to 28 August 2009.
