MultiChoice and M-Net appear before the Complaints and Compliance Committee for non-compliance with the ECA

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICAS) invites all interested parties to a Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) hearing in respect of the allegations of non-compliance with sections 64 (limitations of foreign control on commercial broadcasting services), 65 (limitations of control of commercial broadcasting services) and 66 (limitations on cross-media control of commercial broadcasting services) of the ECA by MultiChoice and M-Net.

The allegations of non-compliance were brought before the authority in August 2007 by Caxton and CTP Publishers and Printers Limited. The matter was subsequently taken to the high court which ordered the Authority to hear the matter.

The hearing will be held as follows:

Please note that there will also be the swearing in of three members of the CCC (two new and one re-appointment) at 09h15 at the same venue.
