The media is invited to a women's event aimed at celebrating women.
This event has been held annually and was initiated by the Minister of Energy Ms Dipuo Peters to honour ordinary women who do extra-ordinary work for their families, in polities or in the society in general.
For the past few years, in her previous position as the Premier of the Northern Cape, Ms Peters, through the assistance of various sponsors, have honoured women as mothers, community builders and home-care givers. In the past, this event was used to highlight the challenges faced by the elderly and also educate them about government programmes aimed at improving their lives as the forgotten citizens whose domestic burden is immeasurable.
In her new capacity as the Minister of Energy, Ms Peters is using this event to not only honour these women of which most of them are our veterans, but also to educate them about energy-related issues such as the need to drive an energy efficiency campaign.

The programme includes the distribution of CFLs and the official handover of solar geysers to two deserving recipients in Galeshewe.
