More affordable housing for middle-income earners

The Minister of Human Settlements, Tokyo Sexwale and the Chief Executive of National Housing Finance Corporation (NHFC), Samson Moraba, will officially launch the Cavendish Chambers housing project in the Johannesburg inner-city tomorrow.

The R33 million NHFC-funded project is targeted at middle-income earners (those people who do not qualify for a government subsidy nor earn enough to qualify for a bank loan). The once-dilapidated building affords people a place to call home closer to areas of work and school. The building was reclaimed from building hijackers, refurbished and opened for occupancy in October 2009.

Date: Tuesday, 19 October 2010
Time: 10h00
Venue: Cavendish Chambers, 183 Jeppe Street (Cnr Kruis and Jeppe Street), Johannesburg.
