Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya to visit Lusikisiki

Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya, will lead a high level government delegation to Lusikisiki, to engage traditional leaders, community and various important stakeholders on the traditional practice of ukuthwala.

It was reported that several girl children in the area of Lusikisiki have been forced to marry older men as part of a traditional practice called ukuthwala.
During the visit, government will also report on the progress in the implementation of the integrated intervention plan to deal with the problem of ukuthwala.

There will also be a visit to a facility that has been refurbished to accommodate children affected by ukuthwala.
