Minister Paul Mashatile visits Diepsloot as part of youth month celebrations

Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr. Paul Mashatile will host the youth at a special event on Saturday in Diespsloot, Gauteng, as part of Government's Public Participation Programme.

The event is aimed at youth practitioners from the arts, culture and heritage sector, providing them with an opportunity to talk to Minister Mashatile about the role and contribution they can make toward the successful implementation of Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE).

The MGE strategy, adopted by the department last year, aims to better position the creative economy in South Africa, which has the potential to be a leading sector in generating economic growth, employment, trade and skills development.

The theme of the meeting is "Strengthening Mzansi's Golden Economy for Youth" and it will provide the province's youth with an opportunity to explore how best they can benefit from the MGE strategy, which the Department of Arts and Culture adopted last year. The strategy, was co drafted by the department and various stakeholders from across the arts, culture and heritage sector, at a specially convened summit, in April 2011.
