Minister Pandor to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day in Khayelitsha

The Minister of Science and Technology will spend 67 minutes on Nelson Mandela Day 18 July 2010 in Khayelitsha, volunteering at the Sibongile day and night care centre.

The centre is a registered non-profit and public beneficiary organisation that provides quality physical, emotional and spiritual care to children with cerebral palsy and other severe disabilities within the community.

Before heading to the centre, Minister Pandor will welcome a group of bikers who travelled from Johannesburg to Cape Town in support of Nelson Mandela Day at Sacla Day Care Centre, G section, in Khayelitsha at 10h00.

The Sibongile day and night care centre currently caters for 24 children, whose ages range from two to 11 years.

Minister Pandor is now expected to arrive at the centre at 10h30.

In addition to helping to cook lunch for the youngsters, the minister will also hand out presents and clothes donated by Department of Science and Technology staff.
