Minister Ndebele launches trucking wellness partnership

As part of the October Transport Month Campaign, Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will deliver the keynote address at the launch of the Mercedes-Benz Trucking Wellness Programme tomorrow.

The impact of HIV and AIDS on the South African trucking community is devastating. Reports indicate some 70 000 drivers are challenged by the impact of HIV and AIDS and poor health. The Mercedes-Benz Trucking Wellness Programme aims to address this plight and involves twenty (20) roadside wellness centres which cover 98 percent of the national road network.

The programme will commence with a R3.5 million investment by MBSA to initiate the programme in partnership with the South African Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS (SABCOHA).
