Minister Baloyi to engage Ga-Matlala community on local governance and development

Minister for the Public Service and Administration, Richard Baloyi invites members of the media to an engagement between government, local political parties, community-based organisations and other recognised community structures of Ga-Matlala as part of the Ministerial outreach programme.

The outreach programme leverages on the strength of the parliamentary constituency office and proactively ensures community structures are involved in local development through facilitation of community projects; oversight on developmental matters; facilitation of public participation initiatives; and cooperative delivery between the constituency office and community structures as a means of strengthening democracy and problem solving as a network of stakeholders.

This engagement was preceded by a Ministerial forum in Aganang where pertinent local issues where raised. As a follow-up, local representatives embarked on door-to-door visits to households within the Aganang District Municipality assessing the needs of the community and interventions needed.

Some of the issues raised that Minister Baloyi will be responding to include issues around access to free basic electricity; the conditions of access roads to clinics and hospitals; and distances between residential areas and service delivery outlets.
