Minister and Cosatu President deliver babies at hospital to mark Mandela Day

The President of Cosatu, Mr S’dumo Dlamini and the Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities Ms Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya will put on their uniform and perform nursing duties at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital in Umlazi south of Durban to mark the Mandela Day on Sunday, 18 July.

Mayende-Sibiya and Dlamini worked for many years as nurses at Prince Mshiyeni before taking up official positions within National Education, Health and Allied Workers Union's (Nehawu) and the union federation, Cosatu.

From 09h00 on Mandela Day, Mayende-Sibiya will work at the labour ward of the hospital which delivers an average of 1 500 babies per year. Dlamini will work at the casualty ward which receives an increased number of patients from Durban’s biggest Township of Umlazi and surrounding areas over weekends.
