"Plant for the Planet-Grow Green"

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson in partnership with the Premier of Gauteng, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane and the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Councillor Amos Masondo, invites members of the media to the 2010 national launch of Arbour Week to be hosted at Orange Farm Regional Park on Wednesday, 1 September 2010

The prestegious launch by the department in collaboration with Johannesburg City Parks and Total South Africa will inlcude Minister Joemat-Pettersson, Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, Executive Mayor Amos Masondo, MECs, members of the mayoral committees (MMCs), ward councillors, greening partners, learners and the media.

Arbour Week is observed annually in South Africa from 1 to 7 September to highlight the importance of planting and protecting the country's indigenous trees.

The launch of Arbour Week also serves as a call to action to local authorities, business, schools and residents to participate in greening activities by planting trees, adopting parks, hosting greening activities and educating all stakeholders on the importance of nurturing a healthy environment.
