South Africa’s Minister of Sport and Recreation, Reverend Makhenkesi Stofile will deliver a keynote address at the South African Sport and Recreation Conference (SASReCon) - the primary sport science conference in South Africa.

SASReCon is a project of the national Department of Sport and Recreation (SRSA), which is attended by sports scientists, researchers, academics and sport practitioners from universities, federations, government, and other organisations. The theme for the 2010 SASReCon is: “Sport, recreation and physical education – an essential triad”. Through this theme, the conference will highlight the important triangular relationship between sport science, recreation and physical education.

The SASReCon will take place as follows:
Date: 11 to 13 August 2010, starting at 9h00
Venue: Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel, Durban, South Africa

Speakers, who will be presenting cutting edge and thought-provoking papers on key topics that are relevant to the South African sport, recreation and exercise landscape, include the following:

South African: Professor Abel Toriola from Tshwane University of Technology, Dr Kallie van Deventer from Stellenbosch University and Dr Ross Tucker from University of Cape Town
