Police briefs media on outcomes and resolutions of Crime Detection Conference, 5 Sept

Media Invitation: National Commissioner of Police to reflect on outcomes and resolutions of Crime Detection Conference

The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, General Khehla John Sitole will be hosting a media briefing to inform the nation of the outcome of the three day Crime Detection Conference which was held between the 3rd and 5th of September 2018 in Pretoria. Crime Detection comprises of the Divisions: Crime Intelligence, Detective Services and Forensic Services.

The Conference, which is the first of its kind, created an opportunity for the members of the mentioned divisions to discuss the various environments of crime detection and to make resolutions emanating from discussions in a number of commissions.

The conference was officially launched by Lieutenant General Lebeoana Jacob Tsumane, the Deputy National Commissioner of Crime Detection on Monday, 3 September 2018 - under the theme “Repositioning Crime Detection for Excellence and Synergy in the SAPS Service Delivery Value Chain”.

At the venue there were various exhibitions by sections within Forensic and Detective Services including Crime Scene Management, Explosives, Forensic Ballistics, Questioned Documents, Victim Identification Centre, Biology, Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences, Stock Theft, Crime Stop and Vehicle Crime Investigation.

Tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, 5 September 2018, the National Commissioner, accompanied by Lieutenant General Lebeoane Jacob Tsumane and the National Head of the DPCI, Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya will be part of a post conference media briefing.

The conference will end tomorrow Wednesday evening with a special awards ceremony during which employees who excelled in their areas of expertise will be recognised.
